The Interview:

Can we start out by telling us if you are published for the first time or are you multi-published?

Amelia’s Prayer is my first novel. I am publishing the first time.

When you were published for the first time, which route did you go – mainstream, small press, vanity published or self published and why or how did you choose this route?

For my first time publishing, I chose to go through self publishing – assisted publishing. I chose this route because I did a lot of research, as it was my first novel and I am a first-time unknown author, mainstream seemed to be not an option. I researched self-publishing and assisted publishing and decided on IUniverse was the best choice for me because I am Canadian and IUniverse have a book launch agreement with Chapters’ Indigo in Canada.

How long did it take you to get published once you sign the contract?

From signing the contract with IUniverse it took me approximately two years. However, that was working part-time. And I had a very large edit to take care of!

How did it make you feel to become published for the first time and how did you celebrate?

I felt as though I were watching someone else. It was very surreal. I celebrated quietly with my husband.
